Trustee

I taught children with special educational needs and was a SENCo in a secondary school for many years. I was particularly interested in supporting parents as I could see how difficult it is for them to navigate the complex systems of education, health and social care. I set up and ran the Parent Partnership Service (now SENDIASS) in Staffordshire and really enjoyed empowering parents and seeing how that enabled the children and young people to develop.

My partner Peter was Charity Manager for the Noonan Syndrome Association for ten years and therefore I became involved by volunteering at family events and latterly organising the Families weekends, which I have really enjoyed, so becoming a Trustee seemed to be a natural step for me.
